Earth Day 2022.
On April 22nd, 2022, more than 190 countries around the world celebrate Earth Day, an annual observance to raise awareness about climate change and environmental issues. This year’s Earth Day activities are around the theme of “Invest in Our Planet”. Earth Day 2022 is focused on accelerating solutions to combat our greatest threat, climate change, and to activate everyone – governments, citizens, and businesses – to do their part. Everyone is accounted for, and held accountable.
For example, did you know that:
- The ice caps and glaciers are melting faster than ever before, and the resulting rise in sea level could make hundreds of millions homeless.
- Despite being 70% water, most of the Earth's water is inaccessible, and 2.7 billion people experience water scarcity for at least part of each year.
- Food insecurity is rife worldwide. More than 34 million people currently face acute hunger, which is the stage before starvation.
These statistics are just the tip of the iceberg. It’s important to invest in Earth and know what businesses and individuals can do to play their part.
